Awards Recognition Assembly
At today's Awards and Recognition assembly, Wayne Johnson and his wife Danielle accepted the money raised by our change drive, as well as $100 from the union. Today's bake sale put on by the 7-3 class helped to raise another $102.00. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson thanked the school for their efforts.
Several students (28 total) received perfect attendance certificates. This is down from 40 students in September. Let's hope the numbers bounce back up. Remember, December has only 3 weeks of school, so perfect attendance should be easily obtained in that month!
Visual Art awards were handed out for stellar performances from each class. Winners were as follows:
7-1: Bailey
Honourable Mentions: Chelsey, Yegwenyes
7-2: Kenisha
Honourable Mentions: Trista, Skylar
7-3: Hilary
Honourable Mentions: Kylie, Shawnee, Shanda
8-1: Heather

First Nations Projects - Grade 7 & 8
All First Nations Projects are due today, Friday, November 17, 2006. Students have had one month to complete in-class research, use the computer lab for internet research and prepared a hand written, good copy. For the last two weeks, they have had the opportunity to take their projects home to complete rough copies and work on good copies. Eight grade 7 students and two grade 8 students have already handed in completed projects and will receive 5 Bonus Marks! Way to go! This completed project is worth 100 marks towards semester two report cards.
On Monday, November 20, we will begin in-class presentation of student projects. Each student will talk about what they researched and what they have learned about a particular First Nations People or an important First Nations Issue.

We had a percentage assessment today, so there is no math homework (boohoohoo).
Spelling- Unit 8 p. 32, which most students are probably finished.
Remember to bring in clippings from magazines, newspapers, etc. for SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING careers for our class project.
See you in the a.m.

Halloween Dance
The Halloween dance went well. i received so much artwork during the last few days, some of it rush work, and some of it well done, that i think we should have a dance on a monthly basis if it's what gets these students so motivated. At least the ones who still do decent work.
There were some excellent costumes and some great dancing. Funniest costume went to Kevin for his cross dressing Joy Johnson imitation. Most original went to John Boy for his fat security guard. Scariest costume went to Shaylayna for her gory doctor costume.
Names and pictures must be cleared with permission before we can get them up on the blog, but let's just say, the boy who dressed as a woman, and the boy who was a fat security guard were two of my personal favourites. Not only did they wear the costumes, they really sold it through their performance and movement. Drama and dance marks are forthcoming.
