ACS Grade 8 Day 2015

Our future Assumption College students and JC Hill Graduates visited their Grade 9 destination to orient themselves and get to know a few of their future classmates of the class of 2020.

Can you tell which one isn't going into Grade 9 next year?

Practicing for hanging out at their lockers.

Look at all the excited, smiley faces of the future grade nines!!

Finally! Some happy faces.

Another happy face.

Our group tried to recapture the lion this year.

We did win the particle game with some awesome team work!

Assumption Lions Claim the Mascot

JC Hill blew away the competition at Assumption College's Grade 8 Day.

In three competitions, we earned the most points
and came away with our own Assumption Lion.

Here, 5 students were able to represent the team and attempt to
create the highest structure out of newspaper and masking tape.

We were probably the only team with our photos in the paper,
as the boys notice a picture of their championship team in the paper.

Our students won the Tug of War competition,
as well as the best dancing to the Cha Cha Slide
(all those dances finally paid off!!!)

Our future ACS students demonstrated great leadership,
participation, spirit and cooperation today.

Great work everyone who came to ACS!

High School Choices are IMPORTANT

Today was the due date for ALL Grade 8 students to submit their high school choices for 2015.  These forms were given out after the Native counselors' presentation last Thursday.  These included permission forms for the Grade 8 day on November 5th at ACS, BCI, HSS, MPSS, and PJCVS.  It is INTEGRAL that these forms be returned ASAP so that the transportation, food, and information can be planned for both the high schools and J.C. Hill.  If we do not receive the forms on time, then students may not be allowed to visit their first choice of high school.  This is an important part of learning about their chosen high school and discovering if it is the right fit for them BEFORE their grade 9 year.  Please speak with your child about this decision and return the form with BOTH sides filled out to your child's homeroom teacher, as soon as possible.  At this point we can not guarantee that your child will be able to go on the November 5th trip as the deadline has passed, but if you can get it in right away, we will do our best to make it happen.

Shadow Days

Permission forms for the Hagersville Secondary School and McKinnon Park Secondary School Shadow Days on May 6th were sent home today.  The BCI and PJ forms will be sent home next week as we are still waiting for some details, though they will also be on May 6th.  Transportation will be provided to HSS and MPSS and quite possibly, BCI and PJ as well.

Tollgate and Assumption College are having grade 8 days on May 22nd, though they are not the same type of day as a Shadow Day.  Information and permission forms for these dates will be sent home once more information is available.  Please return all signed permission forms to Mr. Restoule General.

If there are any questions, you may call either JC Hill School or your child's high school.
