After what started as a trickle, turned out to be a resounding success. This year's MS Read-a-thon raised $600 more than last year, thanks to 15 more participants. The total after last Thursday is $2,152.25 collected by 50 students. Remember, any other money collected needs to be brought in right away.
The results are not final until the MS Society collects and counts the money, but the top 3 classes are:
In third place, Mrs. Martin's 8-2 class with an average of $15.56 per student. 8-2 should be proud that they had the most participants in the entire school, as well as the most minutes read, led by Raycine's school leading 1440 minutes. How's that Twilight series going, Raycine?
In second place, Mr. Sowden's 7-2 class with a $16.00 average. Mr. Sowden's class had the second highest fundraiser, Kaitlyn. Great job, Kaitlyn and classmates.
In first place, coming out of nowhere, with a $16.75 average, thanks to Hannah's school best total of $233.00, is Mr. Hickey's 8-1 class.
A decision will be made soon about rescheduling the dance or rewarding participants in some other way. Once the MS Society has confirmed the totals and sent out individual prizes, a date for the pizza party will be made.
A huge thanks to all the teachers and students who have contributed their time and effort for a cause that is very personal for several staff members. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have all made a difference in the lives of people affected by Multiple Sclerosis. You should be proud of a job well done!
